As one of the premier health clubs in western New Hampshire, the River Valley Club has been a staple in the city of Lebanon for nearly 20 years, raking in $2.2 million annually for personal training. Founded in 1998, the 85,000 square foot River Valley Club serves as a health club, spa, salon, tennis facility and childcare center for over 2,400 members.
Marketing director Taylor Haynes has worked for the River Valley Club for the past three years and has led multiple initiatives-- such as a complete redesign of the club’s website. After working many years in the marketing field, Taylor realized that she was no longer content simply sitting in front of a computer screen.
“The most rewarding thing about working at the River Valley Club is that I get to be creative, and I have the chance to design and come up with new marketing programs,” she said.
Understanding the need to adapt
With modern technologies rapidly disrupting the way the fitness industry has operated for decades, Taylor realized that in order to remain the club of choice in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire, the River Valley Club was going to need to adapt. Today, the club employs 35 industry leading personal trainers, who run more than 100 classes per week, ranging from CrossFit to aquatics. But, using multiple platforms like Google Calendars, Facebook and Twitter to try and communicate that information to their members wasn’t efficient, and Taylor realized the club needed a change. So, after dozens of members requested that the River Valley Club update their communication channels, they decided to make the switch to a mobile application, designed and created by Netpulse.
From the very beginning of the club’s transition, Taylor says she was thoroughly impressed with Netpulse’s in-depth and responsive customer support, and added that Netpulse was able to quickly design a high quality interface that the club approved of on their first attempt.
“With the app from Netpulse, we’ve been able to streamline our interaction with members, and create an integrated club experience by utilizing features such as push alerts. We’re now able to send alerts directly to members’ mobile devices regarding last minute class cancellations, holiday hours and drop-in day care services,” she said.
A foundation for future success
Taylor also says that the members that have downloaded the app so far, offer nothing but near universal praise. “The app’s ability to seamlessly integrate with the fitness wearables out on the market has improved our member engagement by allowing members to do fitness challenges with one another,” she said.
As more members download the app, the hope is that the River Valley Club can leverage Netpulse’s technology to keep its advantage over the competition, and create the best possible member experience, especially as mobile becomes the communication platform of choice around the world.
