Munich/San Francisco, 22nd of March, 2018. The German high-tech fitness company eGym, based in Munich, announced today, that it will acquire the entire mobile application business of Netpulse Inc., based in San Francisco, the leading provider of customized apps for fitness facilities. The current CEO of Netpulse, John Ford, will become the new CEO of eGym North America. The new CEO of Netpulse will be Alex Peacock, who has served as Chief Commercial Officer of the company up to this point. The Chairman and Co-Founder of Netpulse, Tom Proulx, will join the Board of Directors of eGym. The parties involved agreed not to disclose any details of the transaction.

eGym offers software-based, intelligent training solutions to several thousand gyms in Europe:

- 18 fully electronic strength machines for all major muscle groups;

- the eGym Trainer and Fitness Apps, which keep gym members highly motivated;

- eGym ONE, the open cloud platform, which intelligently networks studio equipment that currently remains isolated, in order to create a comprehensive training experience. Currently, eGym already connects devices from more than 50 industry partners, including Matrix, Precor, Polar and Runkeeper.

Netpulse is the largest provider of mobile apps for health clubs with thousands of customers globally, including Planet Fitness, Gold's Gym, and 24 Hour Fitness as well as European heavy weights Virgin Active, Migros, DW Fitness First and INJOY .

eGym CEO Philipp Roesch-Schlanderer said: “Our first meeting at SIBEC in Austin two years ago already showed that John shares our vision of a fully networked training area. In the course of our following conversations, Netpulse impressed us in many ways: its excellent management team, its value adding shareholder base, its deep footprint into the US fitness market and its highly scalable and customizable IT-platform. And, let’s not forget, over last two years, Netpulse grew 90% year over year - twice!

Through our distribution partnership, we developed the idea of working together with our customers, club operators, to help them fully take advantage of the potential of mobile digital technologies for their gyms. For both of our companies, meaningful fitness data for all members is the most important aspect of our work. Valid digital training documentation is an essential factor for successful training, sustained high motivation and, last but not least, for more profitable gyms. In addition, with our open cloud platform eGym ONE, we are connecting the training floor with more and more machines from other manufacturers. As a result, the training area networked by eGym is continuously increasing.”

John Ford said about the imminent acquisition: “This will be the combination of the largest supplier-independent digital fitness platform and the largest open mobile platform. All of eGym’s world class fitness experience will be built right into the Netpulse app, starting with eGym workout tracking. Netpulse will continue on its mission to bring innovation to gyms with the renewed energy and resources of the combined company. We want our customers to benefit from a completely integrated system without sacrificing their ability to buy different types of equipment. Gym operators don’t need to worry anymore about not being future-oriented or having to choose from many different, costly siloed solutions. Once the entire training floor is digitized, the options to add value are endless.”

In October of last year, eGym and Netpulse announced the conclusion of a distribution partnership for North America. Since then, Netpulse CEO John Ford has been responsible for eGym sales in the US and Canada. A product integration plan will see eGym’s rich digital training tools, like the eGym Fitness App, embedded directly inside the Netpulse mobile apps. eGym will continue driving the rapid expansion of Netpulse in Europe.
